Juvederm

Facial Fillers

Juvederm® is a dermal filler designed to restore volume to your skin. We use it to correct nasolabial folds and other age-related imperfections. Dr. Michael Doherty can use Juvederm to give your face a more youthful appearance.

Juvederm is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring chemical found in the body’s connective tissue. As you age, this hyaluronic acid becomes depleted, leading to many of the signs of skin aging. By restoring hyaluronic acid, your face and skin can appear younger.

What Can Juvederm Treat?

Juvederm can be injected into many areas of your face. Juvederm is FDA approved for treating facial wrinkles and folds. Such products are used by cosmetic surgeons for:

  • Lip enhancement
  • Correction of marionette lines
  • Correction of tear trough deformity
  • Restoring facial volume for sunken cheeks or acne scars
  • Correction of glabellar furrows or forehead creases

Juvederm won’t cause changes in your skin’s pigmentation. Men and women of all ethnicities can choose Juvederm.

Introducing Voluma by Juvederm

Voluma is the latest filler in the Juvederm family. Voluma is the first and only dermal filler approved for the restoration of volume in the cheeks. Like the traditional Juvederm filler, Voluma is made from hyaluronic acid—the naturally occurring substance found in skin.

As you grow older, certain areas of your face can become lax and hollow or gaunt due to a loss of elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. Voluma helps to improve these signs of aging, restoring fullness and a youthful shape to the cheeks and around the chin. Dr. Doherty’s Voluma patients often experience a subtle lifting effect from their treatment as well. Your results can last for up to two full years with optimal treatment. Voluma can be combined with other fillers like Juvederm to help achieve a fuller rejuvenation of your appearance.

How Is Juvederm Treatment Performed?

Before you get Juvederm injections, you will meet with Dr. Doherty to discuss your goals for treatment. You won’t need an allergy test prior to treatment, because the gel is made with ingredients that are compatible with your body.

When it is time for your treatment, Juvederm is injected into specific areas of the face in a short outpatient procedure. The injections only take about 15 minutes. Juvederm XC is formulated with lidocaine, which is a numbing agent. This makes the injections more comfortable, and eliminates the need for a topical numbing cream. After your injections, the area may be briefly massaged to promote a smooth result.

After Your Treatment with Juvederm at Rogue Valley OMS

You will see the results of your treatment immediately. Juvederm treatment is long lasting, but not permanent. Eventually, your body will absorb the hyaluronic acid in the gel. You should see the results of Juvederm for up to one year following your treatment.

The Juvederm injections may cause bruising, or a mild swelling in the treated area. This can cause your lips or face to look a bit fuller than expected. This swelling improves rapidly, and you will see the true results of your treatment. You can ice the treated area during the 24 hours after your treatment, to reduce swelling.

After your treatment you should avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and prolonged exposure to sunlight for 24 hours after treatment. After this, you’re free to return to your normal routine and enjoy the results of your treatment.
